Since 1979, we’re the leader in home inspections. I want the home buyer to investigate all homes early in the process. I can’t tell you how many times a home buyer has rushed in to buy a home without taking the necessary steps to minimize costs. I will give you 1 example below of how we look at a home in regards to water penetration.

Water Penetration

Is the slope of the property towards the home? This could be a sign of water penetration in the home. Are the gutters attached or pulling away from the roof? Another sign of potential water concerns.  Any smell in the basement? Another possibility of water intrusion. Leak stains on ceilings? We have moisture probes to determine if it’s active or not. Bathroom tiles loose at the shower wall? This could be a pipe leak behind the faucet. Is water in the electrical panel? Sometimes the service line is not sealed. Painted walls in the basement? Covering up a problem? Drainage system installed in home? How long has it been there and what type of system is it?
